What's the place like?
Rovinj is a beautiful fishing harbour in the northern Croatian region of Istria. Think Italian cafe culture, atmospheric cobbled streets, crystal clear sea, sun (its one of the sunniest places in Europe!), centuries of history, and a chic yet laid-back Mediterranean attitude. What's the apartment like?
A newly furnished ground floor apartment in one of the Old Town's cobbled streets literally 1 min walk from the shops, bars and restaurants and more importantly the sea-front and harbour. Set back from the main town centre on a quiet side street, the apartment has a kitchen (fridge, hob, cupboards), bedroom and lounge with sofa bed, TV/DVD and bathroom. There's also a courtyard with table and chairs so you can sit outside. The apartment is also fully air conditioned.
How do I get there?
Pula is the nearest airport. RyanAir fly there three times a week (Tues, Thurs and Sat). It's 30 mins in a cab from the airport to Rovinj (about £20-25) or there's a bus. RyanAir also fly to Trieste which is has more regular flights but is further away (1.5/2hrs). Flight time is less than two hours and they are usually very cheap if you book well in advance. Prices can start from as little as £30 return.
Why should I go?
Rovinj is a truly stunning place and still relatively cheap. The people are so friendly and Croatia is a great country (ask anyone who's been). Rovinj is a perfect destination for a long weekend or a longer break either to get away from everything or have an action packed holiday.
