In an ancient village high above the Taverone valley, we have a collection of three newly converted houses set on a hillside with stupendous views, especially from the pool area. In the heart of the village, which boasts a shop, bar and excellent restaurant - all within 3 minutes' walk.

I CANCELLI (Sleeps 2, 4, 6+) Built in the 1600's, this quaint old village house has been restored to retain its original features combined with all modern facilities in a most striking style.
A spacious family house, has the convenience of being in this beautiful old village with all its amenities, and having views out across the hills. You can sit out quietly on the extensive private terrace or in the beautiful shady courtyard at the front. To the rear, there is a large (10mx5m) pool shared with the other houses.

You enter through the stone-flagged courtyard with its ancient pizza oven, and the cosy downstairs sitting room with open fireplace leads through to two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower.
Upstairs, from the stylish living room, french windows lead out onto the large terrace with its gazebo - perfect for al fresco dining. The main bedroom has an en-suite luxury bathroom area in gorgeous blue tiles with a corner spa bath from which you gaze out across the valley. There are dramatic soaring beamed ceilings with stone walls throughout the upstairs.

The house has the enviable position of being on a south facing hillside in a small farming community with a shop, bar and restaurant a short stroll from the piazza. No cars pass by the house, only the cows!

A lovely family house but also suitable for just 2 persons using the upper floor only.

LA CASETTA (sleeps 2+) is the perfect little stone-built Tuscan cottage that everyone dreams of. Whilst in the same group as La Taverna, it is completely detached from the others, making it is a perfect hideaway with all modern conveniences. Upstairs there is a spacious bedroom and beautiful shower bathroom. Downstairs is a modern kitchen and a living room with the original stone walls. There are spectacular views from all the rooms and the portico-covered terrace. At the end of the small garden there are steps down to the large pool.
As with the others, a bar and a wonderful restaurant are only a couple of minutes walk away. The narrow, winding streets have no cars, only cows going for milking and the friendly villagers sitting in the shade gossiping.
The gentle pace of life here makes La Casetta the perfect place to relax.

LA TAVERNA (sleeps 2)is a very special small property. Completely made of stone it seems as though it is carved out of the rock. The kitchen area in the main room has an ancient marble sink, though modern plumbing!
Set into a corner of the stone wall in the bedroom is a luxurious spa bath. There is also a bathroom with a spacious shower.
The living room opens onto a walled courtyard, while the bedroom has its own private garden. A few steps away is the large pool with wonderful views over the hills.

Here in Lunigiana Northen Tuscany you will experience a very relaxed tempo of a century or two ago along with wonderful views over the river valleys and mountains Many of the old hill villages are worth a visit Try just wandering through the village streets saying buongiorno or buona sera to the people sitting around on chairs or doorsteps chatting in the sunshine The rhythm of the seasons still rules here Tomatoes are passed through sieves in the summer to make passata for the year the barrels are left to soak and swell in the street ready for the years vintage In their time the olives and the chestnuts are harvested and processed in the cantine beneath the village houses and funghi hunting is an obsession in the area All this only an hour from Pisa It is only a half hour drive to the coast and half an hour into the high Apennines with lakes and fabulous views You can drive to Florence or Siena in a couple of hours of even better catch the train from a local station
