We are only  a short drive from The Castle of Mey and many other visitor attractionsCaithness is great for folk returning home to do family tree research as there are good records at the archives and the cemeteries are all easy to visit - this is Canisbay Church where the Queen Mother used to worship while in Caithness. Prince Charles and Camilla visited there recently.Wick Harbour is becoming popular for yachts. Why not sail North and have a short break in this lovely property and enjoy a few nights in a bed that does not move!
There really are some unique buildings and places to visit close to the townWhen in Wick do try and catch the piping events and parades, the Caithness Junior Pipe Band is really great but I am a bit biased as the nephews all play in the band

In a fantastic location for visiting the Wick Heritage Museum as it is just a few doors away and the harbour swimming pool library and geneology archives are just minutes away you really can just park the car and walk around this lovely little town stroll along the High Street and along Bridge Street or have a walk up the river or along the cliff tops stop for a quick snack at one of the many restaurants and cafes or pop into any of the pubs clubs and bars for a refresher If you fancy going further afield check out the ample leaflets for ideas of where to visit and what is on during your visit The owner will be delighted to help with any queries or directions you need There are also shopping opportunities in the small local shops or in the larger stores You can easily take a bus trip or pop through to Thurso on the train go for a boat trip along the coast or visit Orkney on a day trip go gold panning angling surfing golfing walking Or just do nothing after all you are on holiday
