Escape Disquietude United States

Farmhouse in North Carolina, United States

Property Details of North Carolina Farmhouse

In the late 18th century, somewhere in Scotland, Tom Jackson's great-great-great-grandfather and his best friend married sisters in a double ceremony. For their wedding trip, the newlyweds boarded a ship to America. Before they reached American shores, a hurricane caused the women to vow that if they ever reached dry land, they would never sail again. When the boat reached the Carolina coast, they took up land and stayed.

Since then, Jackson Farm has stayed in the family.

Surrounded by 10 wooded acres the "green" guesthouse offers sublime privacy,a butterfly garden, a fishing pond, and participation in the farming experience of the season. Seasonal food and seasonal sustainable agriculture takes people back to more quiet times.

Our 300 acre farm is both a working farm and a wildlife sanctuary. Open fields, wooded trails, ponds, swamps and branches give people listening space for nature's quiet sounds.

The large screened porch, overlooking a pond, begs folks to relax in a Mayan hammock to watch wildfowl enjoy themselves. From the outside, porch shower one can view fields and skies; lucky are those whose visit treats them to an approaching thunderstorm.

Over 100 bird species reside on our farm, deer drink from the ponds and otters play in the swamps.
