Exceptionally clean quality self-catering holiday accommodation in the rural hamlet of Redmain, 3 miles from Cockermouth, Cumbria.
Occupies a peaceful rural hamlet three miles from the pleasant market town of Cockermouth and ten miles from both Keswick and the Solway Coast with it's long sandy beaches and bracing walks. Windermere and Ambleside are less than an hours drive away.
Redmain House dates from the 1690's and is a traditional Cumbrian long house with attached stone barns from which the holiday cottages have been converted to a very high standard, whilst retaining many original features.
We accept dogs by special arrangement only.
We look forward to welcoming you to this peaceful and beautiful part of the Lake District National Park and hope your stay will be enjoyable.
We haven't had a disappointed customer yet!
Huddlestone Cottage has fully glazed entrance doors leading to an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. A log fire gives a warm focal point. There is a downstairs toilet and shower room. A pine staircase leads upstairs where there is a second full bathroom equipped with a corner bath. Two double bedrooms provide a king size bed and two single beds to sleep four people.
All floors are polished pine with rugs and much of the original stone walls have been retained. The upstairs ceilings are lofted with exposed beams. The kitchens are fully equipped with microwave, refrigerator, freezer, electric cooker, hob and washer/dryer. There is a widescreen colour television, Freeview, DVD/Cd player, Wifi wireless broadband access point and internet access cable (Cat 5 Network) for connection to your own computer equipment. Broadband is charged at an extra 15 per week or short break stay. Please note that use of this Wifi Broadband is based on the guest’s basic use for email and browsing the Internet. Usage on our monthly bandwidth is limited and it is, therefore, not possible to make heavy downloads such as video and music without incurring extra charges. We use software to track online use, and hold the right to charge extra for any heavy downloads. We thank you for your co-operation.
All linen (but not facecloths), oil fired central heating and electricity are all included in the cost. There is also an iron and ironing board. There is a washer/dryer. Windows look out onto the gravel courtyard by a small orchard with gently rising ground behind, recently planted with a small deciduous wood under planted with bluebells. Some games and books are provided for all guests to enjoy. A single pet is welcome provided it is kept under control and must be kept out of the bedrooms to help those with allergies. Free, secure storage is available for those with bikes, but you will need to notify us how many.
No smoking is allowed in the premises.
There is also a wildlife pond and a formal herb garden and three outdoor barbecues. On your arrival there will be enough tea, coffee, sugar and basics like soap and washing up liquid to get you started.
Local Area DetailsCockermouth
The ancient and historic town of Cockermouth is one of only 51 towns in Great Britain to be given this title, and is, therefore, recommended for preservation by the state as part of our national heritage. Set in attractive countryside on the fringe of the Lake District National Park glimpses of the surrounding mountains and countryside spill into view through the old winding side streets. The rivers Cocker and Derwent run through the town making attractive places to sit and take a break. Large enough to support a number of interesting and unique little shops as well as discreet supermarkets.
