This historical logging camp in the “heart of the Redwoods” is located in Laytonville, less than 3 hours from the Golden Gate Bridge north up Hwy 10, and less than an hour from the Mendocino coast.

Mendocino Magic is an idyllic, 600-acre retreat center, providing total privacy. With amenities such as a swimming pool and a large outdoor stage, it is the perfect setting for relaxation and socializing with friends, family, and colleagues, completely surrounded by breathtaking vistas.

Mendocino Magic’s natural habitat includes miles of running paths, trophy fishing, hiking and panoramic views from our 1500 ft elevation. We have three recently remodeled homes accommodating up to 20 people.

Local Area Details

When the Baltimore schooner Frolic shipwrecked off the Mendocino Coast in 1850, scavengers found riches more valuable than silk and the rest of the Chinese export cargo in the ship's hold destined for San Francisco's Gold Rush. Mendocino's redwood lumber industry was born and so opened the link between this region and the rest of the world. Mendocino Village's New England-style architecture maintains a Victorian era ambience. Year-round flower gardens proliferate in the temperate climate, which also sustains ferny trails in five state parks encompassing abalone coves and tide pools, redwoods and conifers, waterfalls and the Pygmy Forest. From Elk to Westport where all buildings face the sea, Highway 1 follows the craggy coastline. Romantic inns and regionally famous restaurants dot the coast and warm travelers with feather beds, hospitality and enticing fare. Along the way, turn of the century Fort Bragg, once a company lumber town, now bustles with antique stores, art galleries and the glorious Coast Botanical Gardens.
