“Les Pieces du Moulin” , a modern self catering holiday Villa in the peaceful hamlet of Bazac, near Chalais, is situated on the border of the Charente and the Dordogne in sunny South West France.

The House consists of a large living and dining area, 50sqm, with massive oak beams and built-in oak cupboards. The fully fitted kitchen with built in fridge, dishwasher etc leads into the attractive open plan lounge which in turn opens out to sun terraces and swimming pool.
3 bedrooms are situated on the ground floor and there is a large family sized bathroom with shower and a separate wc. A feature oak staircase leads to a mezzanine with dressing room / additional sleeping area. A further master bedroom, with balcony and en suite bathroom is also situated on the first floor.
The property, set in its own grounds of 4500sqm of land ( approx 1 acre) offers accommodation for 8 to 10 people, has good views and benefits from under floor heating and a solar heated swimming pool which raises the temperature for those long summer evenings.
Local Area DetailsThroughout the Charente , there are hundreds of beautiful villages built in the traditional Charantaise style, each having it’s own character and history, centred around an ancient church and village green.
Spring comes early to this region and Autumn stays later than in the North, but the seasons do remain clearly defined. The area itself boasts one of the best climates in France, just inland from the Bordeaux region, with the highest number of sunshine hours after the Mediterranean.
The house, located on the edge of a beautiful, peaceful hamlet, is only 5 minutes from the busy market town of Chalais, which boasts shops, patisseries, boulangeries, bars, restaurants and a large supermarket. The lively Monday morning market is a sight well worth seeing and attracts many locals and visitors alike.
Many surrounding villages offer interesting visits and several , such as St Aulaye, Aubeterre sur le Dronne and Parcoul have riverside beaches during the summer months which provide many sporting activities such as canoeing and kayaking. The local countryside offers lovely walks and exciting mountain biking routes etc. One of the Dordogne’s most picturesque visitor attractions is the famous town of Brantome.
Brantome is set in the lush green hills of the northern Dordogne and represents the ideal French town. Surrounded by the wide and tranquil waters of the river Dronne, Brantome is romantic and as rich in history and culture as it is in natural beauty and is truly one of the Dordogne’s greatest treasures. Brantome contains many modern delights and offers plenty of good shops, bars and restaurants. The riverside cafes, combined with good French food and drink and picturesque settings, are forever in demand. The river is ideal for canoeing, and nearby horse riding and cycling are more than popular. Places of interest include the imposing Benedictine Abbey and Medici Fountain. Brantome certainly is an awe inspiring sight!
The Charente / Dordogne region is served by local Airports, with low costs flights available to Limoges ( Ryan air, Flybe) , Bergerac ( Ryan air, Flybe) and Bordeaux (British Airways, Flybe, bmibaby, Aer Lingus, Easy jet) all of which are within easy driving distance. The local town, Chalais, is also served by the high speed TGV trains.
