Property Details of Midi Pyrenees Cottage

Twenty years ago we bought the property, La Typerenda in the South of France near Najac and we started to renovate the house, called Le Loriot. Seven years ago we reached the point where we could live there permanently. We are a Dutch couple. We hope that one day we will be able to meet you.

Our property is located in the South Aveyron just above the point where the Aveyron, Tarn and Tarn and Garonne districts meet. It is a day's drive from the Channel Ports and about one hour drive from Toulouse International Airport. On our property we built two gîtes; Le Papillon a converted stone gîte and Les Hirondelles, a small, recently build gîte, situated next to the pool. Both gîtes have their own private terrace with barbecue. La Typerenda has southerly aspect and stands in 2 hectares of partly wooded grounds with fine panoramic views of the adjacent valley of the river Serene. Areas around have been planted with a variety of shrubs and trees like peach, nectarine, cherry, prune, kiwi, fig and walnuts.
The covered pool can be used the whole year. The pool measures 8.0m x 4.0m. The depth of the pool is 1.50m at the deep end reducing to 0.9m at the shallow end. The pool's purification system is based on biguanide rather than chlorine so the water is very pleasant to swim in and has none of the unpleasantness associated with chemical based treatment systems.

Table tennis facilities, dart and a boulodrome are provided. Your own stone barbecue on your private terrace adds the final touch to ensure you have every opportunity to unwind in a relaxing environment. Or alternatively you can make use of the two mountain bikes that are supplied. Garden furniture, sunbeds and parasols are also available.


The little gîte is fully equipped with all facilities to accommodate up to two persons. There is one bedroom with one double bed provided with a continental quilt, a bathroom and a small kitchenette/living room. A satelite TV and some (English) books are available. The gîte is situated near the swimmingpool and has an opening to the gardens with your private terrace and barbecue and to the swimming pool.

Interesting medieval towns in the area are Najac Cordes St Antonin Noble Val and Albi Albi is famous for its medieval centre its cathedral and of course the Toulouse Lautrec Museum The Gaillac wine region with its fine range of excellent wines is only a halfhours drive away Our region is well known for its fine interesting and affordable restaurants A wide selection of sporting facilities are available in the area Canoes and kayaks can be hired in Laguepie and Najac There is good fishing in the local river Aveyron Viaur and Serene Pony trekking centres are located nearby The local countryside offers many opportunities for walkers and we provide comprehensive maps GR 36 is nearby The golf course at Albi is reputedly first rate and particularly welcoming visitors
