Arcachon's beaches are perfect for a family with children but it's possible too, among many others excursions, to go to the Ocean Beaches in Le Cap Ferret. A "pinasse", typical boat of the Bassin d'Arcachon will take you there. Sure, you'll enjoy a pleasant 25 mn crossing.
Don't forget also to climb up the famous Dune du Pyla , great panorama between forest, sand and ocean.
