Cools Farm
Bed and Breakfast in England, United Kingdom
Property Details of England Bed and Breakfast
Recently restored, this delightful 17th century farmhouse lies within the Cranborne Chase AONB - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nestling under the old Fonthill Abbey beacon, the house is built in local stone and has beams, inglenooks and light sunny rooms. The bedrooms are all large and comfortable, furnished with antiques. The Edwards room has its own private bathroom with a whirlpool bath; the Family Room and French Room share a private bathroom. Alternatively you can choose to stay in our Old Piggery just across the lawn. This is self contained with an ensuite shower room and fully equipped kitchen. Even in such an historic house, wireless broadband is available.
We charge £35-£40 per person per night, with a reduction for 3 nights or more out of high season. (£45-£50 for single occupancy.) The Old Piggery is also available on a self catering basis for Friday to Friday bookings or short breaks out of the summer season.
Read our visitors' comments on our website. They testify to the beautiful position of our farmhouse, our excellent breakfasts and warm welcome plus helpful advice to those new to the area.
We will welcome you on your arrival with a cup of tea or coffee. In the morning, you will have a full English breakfast or an inadequate continental snack. It's up to you! For an evening meal, there are some excellent local pubs and restaurants, all within 6 miles.
Tisbury, only 3 miles away, has a main line station direct to Waterloo, London and we can collect you if you wish to travel to us by train. The A303 - the main route from London to the South West of England is 3 miles north of us. The Dorset coast is about 30 miles to the south.
At Cools Farm you can enjoy real country life. We are an organic working farm with a herd of Red Poll cattle, free ranging chickens, trout lake, meadows and ancient woodlands. The farmhouse has a pretty flower and kitchen garden and in the woodlands and pastures, a rich variety of wild flowers. You are quite likely to see grazing deer from your bedroom window. There are some lovely long walks in the area or you can just take a gentle stroll across our fields, through our woods, and around the trout lake. The Wessex Ridgeway, a long distance path from Lyme Regis to Avebury crosses the farm.
Children are very welcome and will love all the animals we have here. We can provide a cot. A small dog is welcome if you are staying in the Old Piggery but it must be well behaved and prepared to play with our Jack Russell!
