Local Area DetailsPonta do Sol is an attractive village on the South West of the island which enjoys the best weather long sunny days and fantastic sunsets The village has cafes bars a small shopping centre and a sea front with a newly refurbished beach area dedicated to sunbathing and swimming There are plenty of beautiful walks and Levadas and is situated between two towns Ribeira Brava and the popular Calheta both 10 mins drive along new roads either way Funchal the Capital is 20 minutes by car and is accessed using the new Via Rapida in fact most of the island is easily reached from Ponta do Sol
