Welcome to our lovely holiday home on the sunny Costa Blanca! This bright and spacious new ground floor apartment in the Vegamar complex in Almoradi with views onto the neighboring citrus grove, sleeps five. The apartment boasts a double bedroom, separate living/dining room with king size Ikea double sofa bed, single sofa bed, fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, large bathroom and private balcony. The apartment is situated in a secure gated complex designed in a quaint Spanish style with a communal pool with separate toddlers pool. It is equipped with TV, video, DVD, satellite box, dining area, washing machine, fridge freezer, oven & hob and pots, pans, sandwich maker, crockery and cutlery.

If driving from Alicante airport, follow the signs for Torrevieja/Cartagena from the airport which will take you onto the motorway (A-7 then AP-7 keep right), keep driving on this and take the second turn off for Almoradi (exit 740 (not exit 737), also signposted Rojales, Guadamar, Daya Nueva) . Drive a few hundred yards to a roundabout and take the turn off again for Almoradi. This will take you onto Calle de Rojales which leads onto Av. del Doctor Maranon where the apartment complex is located. The apartments are painted yellow and are on the right hand side just past the petrol station and car hire office and opposite El Chaparel bar.

If driving from Murcia (San Javier) airport, follow the signs for Alicante from the airport which will lead onto the AP-7 motorway. Take the turn off for Almoradi, exit 740 and follow the same directions from Alicante airport detailed above.

Local Area Details

Its just a 5 minute walk into the centre of Almoradi where there is a church and town square shaded by trees where local people relax and have a drink. The square is a real social meeting place for people of all ages to congregate. There are approx 50 bars cafs and restaurants including Spainish, British and Irish all within minutes walk from the apartment and on a Saturday the town hosts a fantastic local market with fresh food and local wares.

With regard to food, drink and entertainment, I recommend Cafe Vienna or Terratremo 1829 on Calle San Emigdio for great value. For an early morning cafe con leche join the throngs of locals in cafe Tropicana on Calle Cervantes, or Comic bar where the owner is very friendly or treat yourself to a decadent pastry in Epinosa Bakery at Calle 9 de Octobre and Calle Purissima. For great tapas try Angel bar on Calle Pablo Picasso of La Tasca Iberica on Calle Emigdio and for a great steak or tex mex and a bit of Irish banter try Redz bar restaurant on Calle Canalejas (check out the early bird menu). Que Paso just off the square towards the theatre is also a good choice. For great pizza and Italian, try San Remo close to the square, it mightn't look like much from the outside but appearances can be deceiving and they have a great value Menu del Dia choice. Try Mr. Singhs on Calle Mayor if you like Indian food. If you are looking for live music try the Booking venue on Calle Mayor close to Bar Elite or another live music option on a Saturday night is the Amarion venue on Calle Espana, a short walk from the apartment. For those of you who prefer home from home the British Bar, Bar Elite has big screen football, darts, bingo, pub quiz etc or the Irish bar, Bar Irlanda, also on Calle Mayor has children's play area and pool table. If Karoke is your thing, try Bar El Chaparel opposite the apartment on Av. Doctor Maranon. Behind the apartment complex (Calle Comunidad Valencia) is a great late night bar (only open Thursday to Sunday) called Level pub, it gets a hip crowd! Also, pay a visit to Mezquita Garden, a lovely little bar with a Morrocan theme and a garden bar with a retractable roof (at Calle La Purisima and Calle Amparo Quiles) or the relaxing Way Kay bar on Calle San Emigido and Calle Alicante. Fancy some great food or an Irish Coffee, then try La Galeria, Calle Picasso, close to the square. The square also boosts a nice Heladeria or ice cream parlour. You can pick up the English newspapers in the newsagents behind the church. There is a map of Almoradi on the wall of the apartment to help you get around.

The local resorts of Guadamar (less than 12km away) with its beautiful beaches and parks and Torreveija (less than 20km away) with beaches, a harbour and a more lively atmosphere are close by. There is a bus stop 4 minutes walk from the apartment. The local buses go to many places including Guadamar beach, Torrevieja, Elche (beautiful place to visit especailly the world famous Palm gardens!), Dolores, Algorfa, Benijofar, Quesada and Oriheula. In 2009, a new bus terminal opened in Almoradi (just off Calle Virgen Del Pilar) and the bus time table can be picked up here. If you're hiring a car, we also recommend a visit to Aspe, Novelda (don't miss the church), Abanilla, Fortuna, Ricote, Ojos and Blanca. There is plenty of tourist information available in the apartment, please return it after you use it.

Almoradi is no more than a 20 minute drive from a good selection of golf courses with La Finca and La Marquesa clubs closest. There are also 2 waterparks close by including one in Rojales and one in Torrevieja. There are many fiestas and festivals throughout Almoradi's calendar some of which are a real spectacle well worth a look. The cuisine is another major bonus though made up of mainly traditional Spanish fare although international tastes are also catered for. You will find bars and restaurants catering for most tastes from traditional Spanish food through to Chinese and even your full English/Irish breakfast. Almoradi boasts a thriving bustling traditional market every Saturday morning. If that's not enough for you you will also find Dolores holds a market every Friday morning and Catral holds one every Saturday morning. Almoradi is also well known for its mild climate the entire region enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months with temperatures rarely falling below 30C 86F. Winters are typically very mild with averages hovering around 18C 64F. In recent times there has been increased interest in the town. It has to be said Almoradi does offer something a little different from that of many of coastal towns in that it has retained much of its inherent culture and tradition. Unlike the coastal resorts that become ghost towns out of holiday season, Almoradi stays vibrant and alive all year round. Sporting enthusiasts are still well catered for here with the town boasting a good municipal swimming pool other facilities . The best supermarket is the large Mercadona at 17 Calle Comunidad Valencia (on the same street as the theatre). The San Andres bakery on this street is only a few minutes walk from the apartment.
