It is set in a rural location in a picturesque valley close to local facilities. The house comfortably accommodates 8 people and can take up to 10. There are 4 double bedrooms, 2 modern bathrooms, a big kitchen, large living room, dining room, hall and upper seating area. The house has a beautiful view over the nearby mountains and nestles on the edge of interesting woodland which is full of wildlife. It has a sunny, covered 16sq.m. terrace and a separate roof terrace. Amenities include a washing machine and fridge-freezer. If you want to bring your pet, please ask.

Local Area Details

The area is ideal for a wide variety of outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, rafting, fishing, horse riding etc in the Savinja valley and adjacent mountains. There are a number of good walks direct from the house and the trout filled Dreta river flows 200 meters away. There are 4 ski resorts easy and quick to get to by car. It is only 1.5km to a small village supermarket and the town of Gorjnigrad is 3km away. Nearby attractions include spas museums restaurants gardens etc. Nearby attractions include ski gondolas to Velika Planina and Golte and the spectacular valley of Logarska Dolina. Day trips are possible to Ljubljana, Bled, Postojna caves and the coast.

About Weather/Climate/Temperature

Alpine climate, plenty of sun in both summer and winter with occasional cloudiness and rain.

About Bars

There is a local riverside bar and restaurant about 700m away. It serves home caught trout and fresh salad. It has a garden with plenty of seating. The village of Bocna is about 1.7km away and has 2 bars - one with alternative outside seating.

About Transport

We often drive to Slovenia but its best to do this for a 2 week stay. For a one week stay we fly to the following nearby airports: Ljubljana, Trieste, Venice, Graz, Klagenfurt. You need a vignette (autotoll for motorways) for your own car. Hire cars booked from Ljubljana already have them fitted.

About Beaches

There are some good beaches at Piran for a long day trip.

About Skiing

The nearest resort is Golte - about 20mins away by car. - it is best for intermediate skiers Velika Planina is 35 mins away Krvavec is a bigger resort and is 55mins away - it is probably the best of the 3 for beginners Roglar is a bigger resort and is 1hr 5mins away - it is not bad for beginners

About Fishing

Superb fly fishing at the nearby Savinja but, even better, is the Dreta river only 200m from the house. It is not fished nearly so much and some of our guests have claimed it is the best fishing they have ever done.

About Scenery/Beauty Spots

If you enjoy mountains it is superb for walking.
