Our Laurier Rose mobile home is situated on the 4* PreCatalan site in Barcares , near Perpignan. The site is owned and managed by my sister-in-law, Jenny who is originally from the West Midlands and her French husband, Francois.This is a small, very clean and really friendly site,just a 10 minute walk from the beautiful beach at Barcares. When the site closed in September, work began on creating a new swimming pool complex, which will be completed for the 2009 season which begins in May. The new pool will augment the already superb facilities, which include a retaurant and take-away, shop (with fresh bread every morning), laundry, library with English books and internet access and a lively bar with a full entertainment programme. There is also a very popular Childrens' Club on the site and a disco in July and August. Champion and Lidl supermarkets are a short walk away. Local Area DetailsAs well as offering easy access to the nearby beach, the site is only a few kilometres from the lakes at Leucate and Salses where various water sports are very popular. For walking enthusiasts, the foothills of the Pyrenees are only a short drive away. Perpignan offers great shopping,sightseeing and the Old Town is an excellent place to eat with lots of fine, reasonably priced restaurants. Alternatively, you may choose to have a day in Spain. The border is only a 40 minute drive away.
