Casa de flores is the rebirth of 2 old stone and brick cottages. These have been lovingly renovated to form a 2 bed room apartment / house with a secluded and shaded garden. Here you find comfort, tranquility and nature - lots of it. It's about 1:30 from Santiago de Compostella airport. Long distance trains do stop in Monforte de Lemos. ALternatives are Vigo, A Coruna, Oviedo (Asturias) and Porto. The rental comfortably sleeps 2 & 1 or 1 & 1 . It is on the first floor with cellars underneath. A typical galician kitchen and it's "cocina economica" , a large lounge with a wood burner, a bed room with a large double bed and a small second bed room with a single bed. A bath room with shower (hot) under floor warming and downstairs access to a shaded garden with ample seating. We have central heating, so if it turns cold - no worries. The fridge lives in the "old" smoking room which is upstairs beside the kitchen. The property has been renovated to high standards but the "old charm" has been painstakingly preserved.

About Weather/Climate/Temperature

Here in rural Galicia we have a nice mix of atlantic and continaental clima.
The huge advantage of being on 450 meter is the morning fog dissolves fast and when the sun breaks through it gets warm and in summer hot.
But at night it always cools down and even in "verano" you may well need a cardigan.
It does rain frequently and hard in winter and spring, thus we have the name of green Spain, but rare is the day without sunshine.

About Beaches

Nearby we do have sweet water beaches. This is due to the artificial lakes for power generation.
If you want Atlantic beaches one travels about 80 kilometres to the costa de la muerte. The name stems from the lots of ship wrecks on this coast.

About Airport Information

Santiago de Compostella is the nearest airport with International connections.
A lot of flights come in either via Madrid, Barcelona or Palma de Mallorca.

Alternative airports here are Vigo, La Coruna (direct flight to Heathrow) and OPorto in Portugal.

Near to us in the "town" of Sober we have a great restaurant and some bar's which all serve tappas.
A wide selection of "Cocina Galicia" is available in Monforte de Lemos, our sleepy capital of the Ribeira Sacra.
