Local Area Details

This is the home of prehistory and the sight seeing attractions range from the interesting to the spectacular. Although the pace of life is slow a wide range of activities can be enjoyed and include golf, canoeing, horse riding, tennis, donkey rides, cycle hire, and fishing, all within easy reach. There are lazy boat rides along the rivers or for the more active, the large man made lake at Brive offers a wide variety of water sports. Perigueux, the capital of the Perigord, and Brive, just over the border in the Corrèze, are both large towns and are well worth visiting for the more culturally minded. Enthusiastic building restoration is a passion in this region and there is much to be admired from the lovingly restored old buildings, which seem to be found in almost every hamlet or village, to the renovated old quarters of the towns.
