LOCATION: My cottage is on Clear Lake, which is 20 minutes north of Peterborough or 10 minutes north of Lakefield on Hwy 28. It is 11/2 hours from Toronto (Yonge and 401) in good traffic. Clear Lake is on the Trent Severn Waterway System and is directly attached to Stoney Lake, which is definitely the most beautiful lake in the Kawarthas (a 5 min. boat ride away). The cottage, property and location are absolutely beautiful with a southern exposure. COTTAGE: .This is a non-smoking cottage. If anyone smokes, it should be outside and all cigarette butts should be disposed of properly. ?Living room and bedrooms have recently been carpeted. ?Viceroy, 3 bedroom, 1 four piece bathroom cottage, with a southern exposure ?It is approx. 40' long by 30' deep ?Cathedral ceiling ?It has approx. 32' of windows across the front ?It has 3 bedrooms (king, double, double or bunk & pull out sofa bed). ?One 4 piece bathroom (tub, shower, toilet, sink) ?A Great Room ..... kitchen, dining room, living room are all completely open ?Oak kitchen is large with plenty of counter space, a butcher?s chopping block, a double sink in one corner and also an island with a sink. ?TV & VCR ?Large deck across the complete front of cottage. PROPERTY: ?The property is very child friendly (flat) with a large front yard and a forest out back. ?Small beach that is very good for swimming with an old maple tree for shade while the kids play in the sand. ?137.5? of water frontage ?Private with trees on both sides of the property. ?Outdoor shower (hot & cold water) that is the absolute best. ?Gorgeous view ?Large caldron (cooking pot) over open fire pit ?Excellent friendly neighbours BOAT/WATERCRAFT: ?14 ft. 15 H.P. aluminum boat is available for a very reasonable ($150.00/week) rental fee. ?Kayak and canoe are included with cottage rental fee. ?There are a number of boat launching locations on the lake and I am sure there is one that would suit you and your boat if you have one. There is also plenty of room to park your trailer at my cottage. PETS: ?Animals are welcome if they are well trained, clean and well taken care of. ?Owners are encouraged to bring along the animal?s kennel and preferably, keep the pet in it while in the cottage. ?Please ?poop and scoop? and consider our neighbours on both sides. CLEAR LAKE & WATERFRONT: ?The dock is about 25 feet long and the water is 8 feet deep at the end of the dock. I have an 18' bow rider that fits very comfortably, however I would say that my dock could hold up to a 25' boat quite comfortably. I also have a mooring system to keep the boat from constantly hitting up against the dock. ?The lake is about 45' deep and is about 6 km. long and 1.5 km. wide. ?Fishing is excellent (small & large mouth bass, pickerel, perch & muskie). ?Stoney Lake is directly attached to Clear Lake, however, as the name indicates, there are many rock hazards. If venturing into Stoney, be very careful to stay within the marked channels. ?Boating out for breakfast, lunch or dinner is available at 5 different restaurants on Clear and Stoney Lake: Viamede Resort, Irwin Inn, Burleigh Lodge, Old Mill Restaurant & the Old Bridge Inn at Youngs Point. ?Sailing club is 2 doors away. On race days (Wed. night and Sun. afternoon), the sailboats with their sails ?in all their splendor?, offer a spectacular view. ?Other than the sheer beauty of this cottage and its southern exposure, one of the most important aspects of my property and the cottages around it is that we do not have black flies or very many mosquitoes. I have owned this cottage for 15 years, and I have never used bug repellent. We do have some mosquitoes, however, not many by comparison to other locations in Ontario. Generally speaking, in the months of May and June and part of July the mosquitoes come out at dusk for about an hour and then they disappear.
