LUCY'S RUN is a working vineyard, olive grove and cattle farm situated on 180acres in the lower Hunter Valley in the middle of the wine growing district.
THE COTTAGE is located in its own private 100 acres of bushland with a gas BBQ and outdoor heated spa. There are bush walks (usually accompanied by the resident dogs Lucy and Sophie), wild kangaroos at sunrise and sunset,and an abundance of native birds. The main dam has silver perch to catch (either kiss and throw back or cook on the BBQ) and there is tennis at the main house.
If relaxing is your scene, enjoy complimentary tea,coffee,biscuits,juice and a bottle of award-winning Lucy's Run wine on the verandah.TV,a stack of videos, CD player, an eclectic assortment of CDs, boardgames and books are supplied to enjoy while lying back in the reclining armchairs or in the four-poster bed.
The Greg Norman designed Vintage Golf Club is located over the road and 5 other golf courses are available within 20 mins of the Cottage.
Bookings for wine tours or restaurants can be made with advanced notice.
Private sunset wine tastings on the main house verandah with views of the mountains available for guests if desired.
Guests are welcome to join in feeding the cows and 3 friendly miniature donkeys or stroll among the grapevines. During April/May there are always olives to pick and oil pressing to watch.
Or just retreat from the mayhem of the outside world to the peace of the Australian bush.

Local Area Details

The lower Hunter is surrounded by mountains with a broad valley intersected by the Hunter River. Major activities include wine tasting, golf, horse-riding, cycling, hot air balloon rides, horse riding, eating and relaxing!! The beaches of Newcastle and Port Stephens with dolphin-watching cruises are one hour away and Lake Macquarie with sailing , water-skiing and swimming is only half an hour from Rothbury.
