Modern apartment with private pool, 20 minutes from nearest beach, in historical area with spectacular views of countryside.
The apartment comfortably sleeps 4 people, and can accommodate 5. A cot is available on request. The price includes the use of electricity and water, and also includes final cleaning. Bedlinen and towels are provided, but guests are requested to bring their own towels for the beach.
Local Area DetailsHistoric towns of Alcobaca, Batalha, Obidos and Fatima are all within easy reach of the apartment. The nearest beach at Nazaré is only about 20 minutes drive away. The quieter, more sheltered beach of São Martinho do Porto is about 25 minutes away - ideal for children. If you fancy doing some surfing, Baleal beach is less than an hour away with the best surfing beaches in Portugal. If you want to venture further afield, why not spend the day looking around and shopping in Lisbon?
Additional InformationAbout Weather/Climate/TemperatureThe weather is mild all year round, ranging from 6 to 20 degrees in winter, to between 20 and 40 degrees in the summer, when the average is probably about 26 degrees during the day. Electric radiators are provided for guests if the weather should turn cool. Hot water is included in the rental price, and is provided by a solar panel for most of the year.
About BarsThe nearest bar is about 400 metres away. It is a typical Portuguese bar with satellite TV which provides coverage of many live English Premiership football matches. There is also a pool table and table football. There are other bars in other local villages, several within walking distance of the apartment.
About TransportAlthough Casa Linda is accessible by public transport, you are strongly advised to drive here, either in your own vehicle or in a hire car, so that you will be able to visit the major attractions at your own pace. You can easily book a hire car from any of the major airports or cities in Portugal.
About BeachesThe nearest beach at the traditional resort and fishing port of Nazaré is about 20 minutes from Casa Linda. The beautiful beach at the town of São Martinho do Porto is in a shell-shaped bay and is especially suitable for children.
About GolfingThe golf course at Praia del Rey is internationally renowned, and is less than an hour's drive from Casa Linda. There is also a golf course near Rio Maior, less than half an hour from the apartment. Further down the coast in the direction of Lisbon there is a course at Vimeiro.
About Scenery/Beauty SpotsCasa Linda is set in a semi-rural location. There are plenty of paths to explore in the area immediately surrounding the house. You may also wish to walk or cycle in the National Park of the Serra dos Candeeiros - a long range of hills which are visible from Casa Linda.
Further afield there are several cave systems to explore, the most notable being that at Mira d'Aire, near Porto de Mos.
About Local RestaurantsThe nearest restaurant is between 2 & 3 kilometres away in Carrascal. It serves traditional Portuguese food. There are also a couple of restaurants about 3 - 4 kilometres away in Chiqueda, again serving traditional cuisine. There are several restaurants and Pizzarias in the town of Alcobaça, about 5 km from Casa Linda, and there are plenty of seafood restaurants in the nearby town of Nazaré.
About Children ActivitiesThere is a water park in the resort of Nazaré, about 20 minutes' drive from Casa Linda. There are also plenty of good beaches where children can play safely in the sand, such as at Nazaré, São Martinho do Porto, Foz do Arelho and at other seaside towns. There are horse-riding facilities near Maiorga and at Alfeizerão, near São Martinho.
