Car Rental
This is not included in the villa rental, but is a necessity. The best approach is to pre-book before leaving, getting a fully inclusive deal with nothing extra to pay and picking up the car at the airport. Watch out for the hidden extras which are really essentials like insurance, collision damage waiver, legal protection etc. Ensure that you stipulate that you pick up your car, and drop it off at Faro Airport.

About Transport

Beaches and Touring
The nearest beaches are Ohlos d’Agaue and Praia de Falesia.
The quickest route is to return to Fonte de Boliqueime, cross the N125 and go down the small, narrowing road that becomes a track, go under the railway bridge and turn right at the main road next to the Kadoc night-club. Then look for the signs on your left.
Ohlos d’Agua is a picturesque beach with local fishing boats and a fresh water spring coming out of the seawater in one of the coves.
FalasiaBeach.
One of the closest. Follow the signs for Pine Cliffs Sheraton from the Fonte de Boliqueime roundabout. Backed by orange-red cliffs, this is a very long beach, parts of it far from any built up area and sparsely populated, even in summer. The beach can be reached by driving past Aldeia das Acoteias and following the “praia” (beach) signs. The road to the beach is opposite Restaurant Falezia.

Sao Faustino.

It is also very well known for its weekly gypsy market, every Saturday is well worth a visit. It is the capital of the Algarvian carnival – considered one of the best in the country. São Rafael
beach is located about 5 minutes from Albufeira town center.
Quarteira. Approx. 13kms. To the east of Vilamoura. A town that developed from a small fishing village to a large resort. Long stretch of beaches and promenade. There is a walk-on access from the long esplanade. As at the Marina Beach, the water off this stretch of sand is calmed by a series of breakwaters
Alvor. Approx. 50kms. Along the Algarvian coast we find this beautiful fisherman’s village, the Manueline church from the 16th century seems to remain intact and indifferent to changes.
Armacao de Pera. This area has one of the most spectacular coasts of Europe, and on its wonderful beaches you can find the serenity and beauty that you dream of. Armação de Pêra is a starting point for those who visit Carvoeiro, Ferragudo or Portimão.

When passing through the gate notice the Arabic arch on your right (10th-11thC). The Largo da Se (Cathedral Square) is one of the finest in the Algarve and is crowned the Cathedral. Beside the Cathedral, the Prince Henry Archaeological and Lapidary Museum installed in the former convent. For those with ghoulish tastes, try the Capela dos Ossos. Reserva Natural da Rio Formosa. This magnificent nature reserve is located between Ancão and Manta-Rota. With 30kms of lagoons, salt springs and islands where you can appreciate a spectacular variety of wild life. A Safari Boat departs Santa Luzia, Tavira (933-688-237)
Tavira.
East of Faro about 38kms from the villa is Tavira, one of the most attractive towns of the Algarve. This is due to its superb beaches, excellent fresh fish restaurants along the river, for her magnificent seven-arch Roman bridge, 21 churches and a medieval castle. You can also explore the 11kms of the Tavira Island / Ilha da Tavira. A long wide beach edged by dunes. Turn off just before Tavira. Park and take mini train (1Euro) to beach. There is also a nudist beach away from main bathing area.
Alternatively, turn off the motorway and onto the CN270 cross roundabout, cross next roundabout, which has sailboat sculpture in middle, over the next small roundabout, turn left towards town centre. The city was successively occupied by Celts, Cathiginians, Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Visgoths. It was the capital of the Algarve from 1576 to 1756. There is even a market to which the slaves arrived from Africa many centuries ago. For those who like natural beauty, the Dona Ana Beach or the caves and rocks of Ponta da Piedade are the places to visit.

Olhao. Approx. 28kms. The biggest fishing harbour in the Algarve, located 20Kms East of Tavira. Its charm lies in an architecture with Moorish characteristics – the narrow streets, patios and white houses with flat roofs and terraces. Also has access to the Ria FormosaNature Reserve , filled with small deserted islands where you can explore.
Portimao. Approx. 45kms. This large harbor town is located in a natural shelter inside the “river mouth”. It was once a trading post for the Phoenicians, Greeks, Cartiginians and Arabs. It remains an important fishing port. It is the biggest administrative and commercial centre of the region.
.
Sagres & Cabo Sao Vicente. These mark the extreme southwest point of Portugal and Europe; maybe because of that it is full of legends and mysticism. Here, you must see and visit the São Vicente Lighthouse and Sagres Fortress.
Sao Rafael Beach. A great beach to see at sunset from the cliffs above. It is a large sheltered beach. A turning off the Albufeira-Pera road leads through a small development to a parking area. A few steps and you are on the sand.

A definite stopping point, on the main road to Monchique is the renovated Spa in Caldas de Monchique. Set amid lush, wooded surroundings the picturesque spa town dates back to the Romans. Caldas offers good restaurants, scenic views and spring water that you can taste directly from the spring. The hills of Monchique are also renowned for some of the best dry cured ham in the Algarve. The air is scented with a mixture of cork, chestnuts, pine and eucalyptus trees. The market runs on the second Friday of every month.
Seville, Spain
Approx.220kms. A full day out, but it is motorway all the way and well worth visiting Spains loveliest city. Tour the beautiful old Moorish town and Cathedral. Enjoy Tapas and Wine for lunch.
Cordoba, Spain. A little further, but has Europe’s largest transformed Moorish Mosque.

It is also very well known for its weekly gypsy market, every Saturday is well worth a visit. It is the capital of the Algarvian carnival – considered one of the best in the country. Olhao. Approx. 28kms. The biggest fishing harbour in the Algarve, located 20Kms East of Tavira.
