Also conveniently located at the very heart of the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska's "Vacation Heartland" to allow folks to quickly and easily access all the peninsula's activities from a central location to avoid packing and repacking from their accomodations just to see what the area has to offer. The lodge is fully open in restaurant & store 24 hours/day throughout the summer. The clothing showroom has one of the best embroidered clothing selections in all of Alaska. Charters booked for remote fly-in bearviewing & salmon fishing combos, Upper Kenai River driftboat only waters trophy catch & release Rainbow Trout fishing, King Salmon fishing on the Lower Kenai & Kasilof Rivers, Pacific Halibut fishing from Ninilchik, Seward, or Homer, flightseeing, Upper Kenai River scenic/wildlife viewing rafting, whitewater rafting, horseback riding tours, Kenai Fjords National Park cruises & dinner cruises, and helicopter fly-ins to glacier-based dogsled mushing training faciltiy for hands on touring with 12 dog teams.

Note there are 5 types of accomodations: Deluxe Chalets, Standard Chalets, Cottage House, Standard Log Cabins, & Log Cabin w/ Kitch/Loft. The parameters listed in the lodging data are for Deluxe Chalets. The following data is for each of the other types of accomodations:

Standard Chalet: Sleeps up to 6, kitchenette, private bath w/ shower, private bedroom with full sized bed, ladder to loft area with dormer windows and two twin beds, dining/living room area.

Cottage House: Large 800 square foot cottage with very large kitchen and dining room, great room with queen sized bed, queen-sized sofa sleeper, woood stove, and the only unit one property w/ VCR and satellite TV. Unit more for families since all bed space is in one great room.

Standard Cabins: Two double beds, with private bathroom w/ shower. Basic, yet still comfortable units predominately reserved by sportfisherman looking for basic sleeping accomodations versus all the comforts and ammenities of our chalets.

Log Cabin w/ Loft & Kitchen: Two double beds, loft w/ a twin bed, private bathrrom w/ shower, fully appointed & equipped kitchen w/ breakfast bar and small table.

Local Area Details

In addition to all the outdoor recreation excursions identified above, Gwin's Lodge is within a mile of the trailheads of the Resurrection & Russian Lakes Trails, which are National Historic designated trails and two of the finest hiking byways in Alaska. The nearby Russian River fishery is one of the finest in the world with easy access to the fishery via the Russian River Ferry ($6 charge to ride) or the Russian River Campground day parking lots to walk in to the beautiful gin clear waters of the Russian River. There also are great hikes to the Russian River Falls, the rim of the Kenai Canyon, and Juneau Falls.
