High Dale Park Barn is a newly converted 17th. century barn. There are two units sleeping 6 and 2. This is ideal walking country in Central Lakeland in the heart of Grizedale Forest - Lakeland's largest forest area. The property is situated in a glorious position - south facing in a tiny, secluded valley with hills and woodland either side and a stream running down the valley floor. Superb walking is literally seconds from the door. The mediaeval village of Hawshead is 3 miles. Beatrix Potter's home, where she wrote the Peter Rabbit stories is also 3 miles. Lake Windemere is 4 miles and Lake Coniston 6 miles. Owner managed and open all year. We have lived in the farmhouse next to the barn for 22 years and we provide towels for foreign visitors! You will love our area, but you do need a hire car.
Local Area DetailsThe Lake District National Park is without doubt the most spectacular area in the whole of England. There are many lakes and England's highest mountains are here. The poet Wordsworth wrote his finest work here. Many of England's greatest litarary figures lived here too. Activities: This is great walking/mountain bike country. Sailing, swimming, fishing and cruising are all very popular on the lakes, although some lakes have restricted access, being entirely for wildlife. The only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world is situated in Ulverston - 12 miles from our property. Stan Laurel, the world famous film partner of Oliver Hardy was born in Ulverston.
