Lavender has done B&B for years and looks after hr stupendous listed houe single handedly . Over afternoon tea, she tells colourful stories of the house and her family' local history: from 1349 until the Dissolution of the Monasteries the house was a college of priests and there's stunning Jacobean panelling in the dining room. Bedrooms are tiny , all have lovely views over the garden with its pingos ( ice age ponds) . Come for history and architecture and friendly Lavender , and breakfast from the farm shop down the road.
