La Rivolte is a magnificent 19th century mansion with stunning sea views, park-like Mediterranean gardens and a heated jade green swimming pool. The villa has 8 beautiful provencal bedrooms all with sea views except for Herb Cottage which is an annex in the garden. It is a small double bedroom with shower ensuite and private garden area. There are 2 living rooms, one with satellite TV, DVD player, X-Box and VCR and piano and the other living room has a library of guide books, maps and novels. The large kitchen dining room has a large open fireplace and is very well equipped. We also have unlimitted free internet (and wi-fi) access for guests and we have recently installed a sauna next to the pool house. There is a large terrace in front of the villa with views over the old town of Grasse and the cathedral and panoramic views over the Bay of Cannes and the Cap de l'Esterel. Grasse is known as the world capital of perfume and is a perfect base from which to explore the Cote d'Azur. Please contact us for our website address.
Local Area DetailsGrasse has 3 large perfumeries which can be visited and you can even make your own perfume. There are many beautiful hilltop villages nearby, several excellent golf courses, Nice, Cannes and Antibes are all a short drive away. Monaco and St. Tropez are an hour's drive away and Italy is not much further!
Additional InformationAbout Local AttrcationsGrasse is known as the world capital of perfume. The three main perfumeries: Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard all offer guided tours as well as a 2-hour workshop where you can create your own perfume. There is also Florian sweet and chocolate factory in the nearby village of Pont sur Loup who also offer guided tours.
About Local RestaurantsThere are some excellent restaurants in the region including the 2 star Michelin restaurant: La Bastide Antoine, located in Grasse and owned by the well-known chef: Jacques Chibois. There is a selection of various types of restaurants in the town of Grasse and some excellent restaurants in towns such as Cannes, Antibes, Nice and especially the village of Mougins - just 20 minutes from the villa.
About DrivingWe recommend hiring a car in order to be able to visit some of the beautiful hilltop villages which have infrequent public transport links. Also for visiting locations such as the Gorges du Verdon and the National Park of the Mercantour. There are some spectacular drives up on the Route Napoleon where many car adverts are filmed as well as the stunning drive along the Haute and Moyenne Corniche between Nice and Menton, on the Italian border.
About WalkingThere are some excellent hiking routes in the area and we have various walking maps and guidebooks in our library.
About ShoppingShopping ranges from the designer boutiques in Cannes and Nice to high-street chains. Also, local produce and provencal articles are available at all the local markets.
