Casa Joia is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a magical view over the Obidos Lagoon, Casa Joia offers the benefits of a peaceful location, but still very close to all amenities found in the nearby village of Nadadouro and the small city of Caldas da Rainha. These are within 2 and 10 minutes by car, respectively. The mouth of the lagoon and the wide sandy beach of Foz do Arelho are about 5 minutes by car, with safe bathing for children in the lagoon. For accomplished adult swimmers, surfing and body boarding in the sea are very popular.

It takes about 1 hour to drive to Casa Joia from Lisbon Airport.

There is a lot more to Portugal than the Algarve in the South. The western region of the country includes the province of Estremadura and the Costa da Prata (Silver Coast), with its unspoilt beaches, stretches of white sands and high cliffs. The countryside inland is lush and fertile - woodlands of pine and eucalyptus, a profusion of wild flowers, acres of vineyards and fruit trees, patterned by neat fields of vegetables and other crops. Historically too, this area reflects the fascinating past of Portugal. There are many places of interest to visit which are only a day trip, or less, away from Casa Joia - Obidos, Fatima, Tomar, Sintra or the Capital Lisbon, to name but a few. In short, the area can justifiably claim to offer something for everyone!

The enjoyment of water-sports such as windsurfing and dinghy sailing on the lagoon; wonderful walks (an extra pleasure for birdwatchers, photographers or painters); highly recommended golf course not far away (about 40 minutes by car).Flourishing ceramics and other craft industries provide a tempting assortment for shoppers, at unbelievably low prices and, of course, many hours can be spent in the local restaurants sampling the food and wines. At Foz and nearby San Martinho do Porto, both lively summer resorts, there is a good choice of restaurants, bars and late night clubs. Come to the real Portugal and sample all these delights between relaxing on your own terrace in the sunshine or under a star-studded sky!
