About Weather/Climate/Temperature

The local area has several laid back bars with friendly locals and tourists mixing. However, by the promenade expect sophisticated bars and seafront restaurants from 5 star to small intimate wine bars by the beach. We recommend the bar called 'The 19th hole' on the Maspalomas beach front by night with live music, great food and drink and very reasonable prices. Look for the area to the right of the lighthouse (Faro).

About Bars

Nightlife in Maspalomas is low key with some music bars yet mostly a more easy relaxed atmosphere. However, in the sister resort (5 minutes by taxi) you will find a whole menu of wild and wacky nightlife from Cabaret bars to Gay bars, Disco bars to full-on Night Clubs. Prices vary, however, don't expect the night life to be much less than that expected in the UK.

About Nightlife

Good cheap and frequent bus services to the whole of the island daily from Maspalomas bus station. You do not need a car to get around this island!
Taxis are very reasonable and a very popular way of getting around short distances. Property to Beach around 3 euros (Jan 2011). Airport to Property return approx 7 euros per person. No.66 bus runs daily airport services with just a very short hop on a taxi at the Maspalomas station to the property. Much cheaper than a transfer bus orr taxi. Service runs until 22.20 hours from Airport.

All the beaches are clean and are of fine golden sand. The waters are safe and shallow and great for children. The beaches are long and varied. Close to Maspalomas are the main family beaches with the dunes in the back ground. There are also nudist beaches and gay beaches found at about 1km from the main beaches walking towards Playa del Ingles. Expect to see a few bare bottoms now and again! - Its all part of the fun!!

About Golfing

There are several Golf courses close by. The main 18 hole Maspalomas Golf club open to the public is a very good quality course and relatively demanding. Distance - just under 1km from Casa Solomie. There is also a 5 star luxury course at 2kms called 'Solobre Golf' where you can mix with the rich and famous for a few drinks at the 19th. Not cheap but immaculate.

About The Gay Scene

The local airport is Las Palmas (LPA).
Located to the East of the island on the GC1 Motorway. The airport is about 30 minutes by car or by taxi and around 50-55 minutes by transfer bus or local bus service No.66.

You will also be able to view the island of Tenerife and the volcan 'Teide' from the hhigh ridges within the interior. This area is a must and is very beautiful.

A local beauty spot in Maspalomas must be the Oasis and the Maspalomas Dunes. The dunes of golden sand sit side by side with the beaches and sea front area with a backdrop of the nature reserve and natural oasis of date palms and natural fauna and flora. Distance from property 1.5kms.
