The cottage is situated in the 'Pueblo Blanco' of Yunquera, which is about 60 minutes inland from Malaga airport. The town is on the edge of the national park of 'Sierra de las Nieves' and is ideally suited for walking, birdwatching, sightseeing or simply taking it easy in a relaxed rural location. The town itself (about 3000 people) offers all the facilities you will need; numerous shops, bars, restaurants, swimming pool.
The property itself has been recently renovated to a high standard with all the fittings being new.

Local Area Details

The area is idally suited for those who want to do some walking, cycling, shopping or sightseeing. The landscape is really beautiful and within a hour's drive is the Costa del Sol, the historic town of Ronda, the Andalucian 'Lake District' of El Chorro and beyond this Seville, Granada, Cadiz.

About Weather/Climate/Temperature

Very temperate weather. Cold during January. Best months are April until end of October. Summer temperature average 30c.

About Transport

Ideally located if flying, driving or taking the train. Airports at Bordeaux (55km) and Bergerac (33kms). Libourne station (30km)is served by TGV from Paris, takes around 3 hours. There is a local station in Montcaret. A10 motorway from Paris is also at Libourne.

About Family Activities

Lots for the family to do. There is an Aqua park at Bordeaux, and outdoor treetop activity centre at Cenon, bird sanctuary, canoeing on the Dordogne etc.

About History

Located in Aquitaine the area has a long association with England (not all good!) The area is steeped in history from Roman times, there is a Gallo-Roman museum at Montcaret church where mosaic floors can be viewed. The Hundred Years War with the English was focused in the area, resulting in many bastide towns to visit. At Castillon (5km) they re-enact the last battle during the summer months, a spectacle well worth seeing.
