Chelsea Cottage is situated in the picturesque conservation village of Kirk Yetholm, near Kelso in the Scottish Borders. The village lies in the valley of the Bowmont Water in beautiful scenery at the foot of the Cheviot Hills. The famous Penine Way ends here and St Cuthbert's way crosses through the village. We provide detailed OS maps and walking guides for your use.
This charming terraced cottage provides a comfortable, well-equipped base for exploring the surrounding countryside. Redecorated to enhance the traditional character of the cottage, you will find everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. We provide a good range of holiday reading material, as well as a selection of CDs and videos.

Local Area DetailsThe Scottish Borders is rich in history and provides a wide range of sporting activities. The Tweed is nearby with excellent trout and salmon fishing. Trout fishing permits can be obtained from Tweedside Tackle, in Kelso where you can also hire rods and equipment if necessary. There are many golf courses in the area for all levels of ability. Horse riding or cycle hire can be arranged. For those who enjoy a less active holiday, a quiet pint in one of the two nearby pubs might be a good alternative! You will be impresssed by the friendly hospitality that awaits you in the twin villages of Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm
There is space for parking outside the cottage, which lies approximately one hundred yards from the traditional village green. At the far side of the green is a historic coaching inn that provides bar or restaurant meals. Both children and dogs are welcomed here.
In Town Yetholm, there is a pub, village shop, post office, butcher and garage, less than one-mile walk away from the cottage.
The closest town is Kelso, ~ 7 miles away. This charming old market town has many interesting sites to explore, including the Abbey, Floors Castle and a variety of shops. There is also a swimming pool, golf course and the famous Kelso Racecourse. Most of the border towns are less than 45 minutes' drive away, with Abbeys, museums and shops to explore in Jedburgh (13 miles away), Melrose, Galashiels and Coldstream. The Northumberland town of Wooler is 13 miles to the east, and Berwick-upon-Tweed and Holy Island make a superb day's outing. The village is ~ an hour from either Edinburgh or Newcastle
