Property Details of Languedoc Apartment
The house is in a private position on the outskirts of the village of Le Pouget, a two-minute walk away, which has a restaurant, two bars, mini market, boulangerie, pharmacy, doctor and hairdresser. It is next to the owners house, a professional family, with whom you share the swimming pool (5m x 10m, 1.10m-1.80m deep) and garden.
Le Mazet is completely self-contained and private, with its own entrance and patio, and parking on the property. There is plenty of flexibility with use of the pool. Perhaps you would like to arrange some time to have exclusive use just for yourselves, or else share it with the family and occasionally their friends, at any time.
The fully equipped kitchen has fridge with small freezer, cooker, microwave etc. and plenty of cupboard space. A bar separates the kitchen from the living area, which is furnished with a sofa that converts to a bed, dining setting, T.V.(French channels), CD player/radio.
From the living area a glass door opens to a large (approximately 25 sq m) sitting room, comfortably furnished, with glass sliding doors opening to a private patio, the garden and pool.
A solid timber spiral staircase, which is narrow, leads up to the large bedroom with one double and one single bed. The shower room with large shower, hand washbasin and separate WC is also on this level.

Le Mazet was everything we could have hoped for. The (owners) were wonderful hosts. They were very friendly, helpful and unless we needed anything, left us to our own devices. On our last night, we had the wonderful experience of dining with the very charming couple in their home - trading stories of travel and communicating in 3 languages (English, French and Spanglish).
The location was wonderful - a very quiet little town, but so close to Clermont L'Herault (wonderful market) and Gignac (also charming).
The suite was great - lots of room. It was nice to have breakfast in the front room, overlooking the garden/pool area.
Overall, it was one of my favorite parts of our 3 weeks in Europe - and we would recommend it to anyone.

Local Area DetailsLe Pouget is located 40 kms west of Montpellier, which offers the arts, theatre, shopping, an international airport and train station.
Supermarkets, restaurants, shops etc are a 7-minute drive away in the market towns of Clermont l'Herault and Gignac, which both have excellent weekly street markets. Swimming spots at Mediterranean beaches, 35 minutes, Lake Salagou (also fishing, windsurfing and watersports), 15 minutes, River Herault (plus canoe hire) 15 minutes.
Excellent seafood restaurants at little ports 25 minutes. The area is ideal for walking with many marked trails in the herb-scented hills.
Carcassonne to the west and the splendid Roman towns of Avignon, Nimes, Arles to the east are an hour's drive away. Other interesting trips include Cathar castles and the wild Larzac plain with well-preserved, fortified 15th century templar knights villages.
This is the largest wine producing area of France. The scenery is spectacular, with mile upon mile of vineyards interspersed with medieval villages and a backdrop of beautiful mountains. There are ample opportunities to taste the local wine, both at the domaines of private producers and caves co-operatives.
