The Cider Press Apartments offer high quality and very comfortable accommodation in Brinsop in north west Herefordshire just 6 miles from the centre of the city of Hereford. The apartments are the result of the conversion of a 17th century stone and timber framed building used for cider making and attached to the White House, a former farmhouse possibly dating to the 15th century where the owners live. Within the grounds there is a lake just under 1 acre in size which is listed as a mediaeval fishpond and contains several varieties of carp. The grounds with their abundant wildlife form a very attractive part of the property and are there to be enjoyed by guests all year round. The White House is surrounded by idyllic countryside with panoramic views to the Black Mountains forming the border with Wales and Credenhill Park Woods , the site of the largest iron age fort in the Country. Very close is St George’s Church Brinsop where St George is reputed to have slayed the dragon and contains a stained glass window in memory of the poet Wordsworth who was a frequent visitor to Brinsop

Cider Press Apartment 1 which is reached by its own outside staircase has undergone extensive refurbishment and benefits from full central heating. The kitchen is fully equipped and comes complete with an electric fan assisted oven, ceramic hob, microwave and dishwasher. The bathroom contains a high quality shower enclosure and the bedrooms benefit from decent mattresses and superior bedding. The living room includes a comfy sofa and a TV, DVD, games and books and the furnishings throughout complement the period features. Guests have access to a separate laundry room containing washing machines and tumble drier.

There is much to see and do in the area We are close to Hereford and its famous cathedral containing the Mappa Mundi and mediaeval chained library Hay on Wye on the Welsh border is a delightful small town and comes alive each May and June with its annual literary festival claimed by President Clinton to be the literary equivalent of Woodstock Ludlow considered by many to be the most perfect town in the country with its mediaeval street plan and castle and the Black and White villages trail Further afield but making a good day out are Stratford upon Avon Cardiff and Bristol via the Wye Valley and Severn Bridge For the more adventurous there is walking of all standards including hill walking on Offas Dyke and the Black Mountains and canoeing on the River Wye We also have bicycles if you wish to explore the lanes around Brinsop Food is a big draw to Herefordshire and South Shropshire and there are some great restaurants and pubs locally as well as various food festivals at different times throughout the year Combining an event with a long weekend would make an excellent way of getting to know this part of the world
