The cottage has been lovingly restored over the years as a home. It is comfortable, light and full of character with a very special and gentle atmosphere. Anyone who has ever been here loves it. I am sure that you will too. There is an open fireplace, antique furniture [including a 4-poster bed in one of the bedrooms], a cosy box bed by the turf fire, and an Aga in the kitchen. There is also a lovely window seat in the kitchen where you can sit in the sun and read, enjoy the view, or sit and chat lazily with someone. It sleeps 4-5 people. With its secluded location, in a lanscape that is wild and romantic, peaceful and timeless - Baile an tSleibhe provides the perfect refuge from the stresses of modern living. Baile an tSleibhe [meaning 'Town of the Mountain'] is actually what remains of an old hamlet, only one of the cottages now inhabited. It still retains the feel and remnants of an Ireland that has nearly completely vanished. It is an Irish speaking area.The hills above the house are rocky and heathery and empty, except for lots of badgers, hares and a few wild goats. The peace is palpable. It is beautiful.
