Oakland Cottage is an historic "Arts & Crafts" style home, circa 1900, allegedly designed by Richard Sharp Smith, supervising architect for the Biltmore Estate. The 5,000 square ft "cottage" has been naturally broken into private & roomy Suites, yet the integrity, spacious feel and character of this lovely historic home has been maintained with each renovation. The additional open common areas with many lovely built-in features & windows, add to the spacious, warm & convenient experience.
With a capacity for up to 20 overnight guests, The Whole Cottage is perfect to reserve in its entirety (minus the InnKeepers' Apartment) for wedding groups, small retreat style meetings, girlfriend get-aways, family and friend gatherings.
There are four spacious two-room Suites (8 bedrooms), The Rose Rooms may be reserved together as a two-room two-bath Suite, or the Rose Rooms may be reserved independently of each other for a more economical option. Each Suite or Room has a private full bath (5 full baths in the property), hairdryer, Cable TV, and coffee-maker. Some Suites include a mini-fridge & microwave and private back deck. High Speed Wireless Internet access is available throughout the property. On-site laundry facilities are available for your use. Large common areas inside and out are available to all our guests, including the Guest-use & full amenity kitchen. There is a light, full and hearty breakfast available each morning in the common dining area.
Local Area DetailsA great location - just 1.5 miles (2km) from Biltmore Village & the entrance to the Biltmore Estate and 1.5 miles (2km) from the heart of thriving downtown Asheville & "Pack Square", where there is abundant fine & fun dining, walking, shopping, crafts, arts & entertainment - check the Asheville Calendar of events as there are many great street festivals throughout the year (Bele Chere is the Southeasts largest street festival - in late July). Additionally, Oakland Cottage is just a few miles from the the spectacular Blue Ridge Parkway providing quick & easy access to hiking, biking, scenic driving & all the Parkway has to offer. Other area activities nearby include golfing, fishing, horseback riding. After a day of sight-seeing, visit the spectacular Spa at the Grove Park Inn - or just enjoy touring the Historic Grove Park Inn itself and it's incredible history, with Car Museum and Crafts displays right next door.
Many more fun activities are within a one hour drive, including the Lake Lure & Chimney Rock Park (private until recent purchase by the State of NC for future preservation), Great Smokey Mountain Park, Oconoluftee Village (native American Indian Reservation) featuring the summer outdoor drama, "Unto These Hills", about the Cherokee Nation, The Great Smokey Mountain Railway, Snow Skiing in winter (Wolf Ridge), horseback riding, whitewater rafting in the summer, bicycling, motor touring, waterfall hiking & rockclimbing.

| Rates are based on double occupancy. Add $10 each additional guest if more than two guests are staying in a Suite or room. Pets are allowed at an additional $15 per pet per night. The Music Suite on the ground floor is the most suitable for pet owners as it has sliding glass doors to the back deck to back yard access.
