Built in 1909 The Montana Hotel was a Milwaukee Road railroad crew-change hotel. Remodeled and up-dated, it now has 10 pretty rooms with private baths and TV. We serve wonderful country-style breakfasts, often accompanied by live harp music. The Montana Hotel is an easy one day drive from Seattle or Yellowstone Park, just off I-90, 30 miles west of Missoula, and a 3 hour drive from Glacier National Park. Located in the quiet little mountain town of Alberton, the Clark Fork River is minutes away, with great fishing and whitewater rafting. There are several golf courses within 30 miles, tennis courts down the street, and hiking in the nearby state parks. We will be happy to help guests book hunting and fishing.

Local Area Details

As an old railroad town, Alberton celebrates "Railroad Day" the third Saturday of July, with a parade, all-day picnic and art and craft show. The Town has a railroad museum, an antique store in a railroad depot, an amazing used bookstore (over 150,00 books!), churches, and several bar/casinos, all within walking distance from the hotel. Fishing and hunting are good reasons to visit Alberton. And for the more cultural minded folks who don't choose to stay in a city, Missoula is only a half hour away, with the University of Montana, The Missoula Community Theater, and many art galleries.
