Local Area DetailsA short 5 minute walk away from the Absolute Paradise gay B&B you will find a clothing-optional black sand beach. This is where you'll have a chance to swim with sea turtles, dolphins , and the abundant tropical fish found on the reefs. Visit us between December and March and spot migrating humpback whales from the beach.
From our home base you will have easy access to the rivers of molten lava
that are flowing from the summit of the Kilauea volcano. January 2004 was the 21st consecutive year of eruption for this volcano.
A short 10 minute drive away are some of the Big Island's most interesting geological formations: steam caves. These caves and vents allow steam -- formed when rain water comes in contact with geothermally heated rock -- to escape through cracks and channels in the rock. Take a natural steam bath after a hard day at the beach. The caves are a must-see for the gay visitor to Hawaii.
Star-gazers will not want to miss a visit to the Big Island's tallest volcano, Mauna Kea (meaning "white mountain" in Hawaiian), which is home to several world-class international optical and RF telescopes.
