Kamaole I Beach (shown in our pictures)is one of the best in Maui and is only 1 block away - just a few minutes walk. This is a popular,gorgeous, white sand, swimming and snorkeling beach. It has warm, turquoise blue water, with gentle waves. It's great for children. The sunrise and sunset on the beach are magnificent! People come to Maui for the beaches and watersports - the island has some of Hawaii's best windsurfing and boardsurfing, as well as plenty of good swimming, snorkeling and bodysurfing. Surfing is good at Maalaea Pipeline, on the southern side of Maalaea Bay- one of the world's top 10 areas. This is only a short drive from the condo. Beginning surfers can take lessons in Kihei, a short distance away. The best diving & snorkeling is the sunken volcanic crater of nearby Molokini, where the fish are tame and the water is clear, For beach snorkeling, the easily accessible Black Rock at Kaanapali is good. There is also snorkeling at the beaches in Kihei, and nearby Wailea. There are many different snorkeling and scuba boat trips out of nearby Maalaea, as well as dinner, sunset, and cocktail sailings.
Although the water's the place to be on Maui, there's also much to do inland. Haleakala National Park has some extraordinary hiking through its volcanic crater, and the whole island has many nature walks. Haleakala is also popular with horseback riders, and cyclists enjoy coasting 38 miles down the steep mountain. You can hang-glide from Haleakala to the coast, a beautiful descent of nearly 10,000’.
