"Carnelian Cottage" is a mountain getaway, not a city house in the mountains. The whole interior of this "Old Tahoe" style cabin is varnished knotty pine. Its 12 x 20 living room features a big stone fireplace flanked on both sides by comfortable window seats. The original owner was an Olympic gold medallist in rowing and two of his 12-foot oars hang above the entry to the dining room while a third oar serves as the stair rail. Three bedrooms upstairs (2 with twin beds and one double) sleep 6 people. Outside, a sun deck wraps around the front and side of the house and in the secluded back yard there is a tree fort and swing for our little guests. The yard is maintained in a natural state with fir, cedar and pine trees.
