Many mountaineers will definitely enjoy this place, but there are also other activities that are less strenuous such as sightseeing.

The topmost point in this state is the Spruce Knob which covers a height of 1482 meters with boreal forest covered by spruce trees. Spruce Knob is located inside the Monongahela National Forest which is also covered under the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area. There are a total of six wilderness spots found within this forest. To the south of this forest, one can find the New River Gorge, which is a 1,000 footer canyon created by the New River.
