Premier Inn Announces 2 New Hotels in Stratford

After a long planning time, Premier Inn is finally all set to bring two new hotels to Stratford. The company invested more than £13 million in the town and created approximately 75 new jobs. The hotels, one on Payton Street and one at Waterways on Birmingham Road, will provide more than 200 new bedrooms to the areas.

Right now, work has already started on turning College House in Payton Street into a 87 bedroom Premier Inn. If all goes according to plan, then the hotel will open in the Spring of 2011 and should provide about 30 new jobs. The former Red Lion pub, which is also owned now by Whitbread, will be improved to become the principal pub and restaurant for the hotel.

As for the Waterways hotel, work is scheduled to start this summer. Initially, the building on site will be demolished and cleared before the construction team moves in to build the new 130 bedroom Premier Inn. Due to all of the work that has to be done to get this hotel up and running, it will not be opened until Summer of 2011.

John Bates, Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants head of acquisition, said that they are bringing investments, jobs and 200 plus new bedrooms to Stratford. That’s a major package of improvement, and they want to be part of a successful Stratford regeneration and business story. Stratford has always had a very strong reputation as an attractive town and leisure destination. By introducing these 200 plus rooms, they will bring more choices to the market. That has to be good news for the town and for visitors wanting to go to Stratford.
