It now seems that the well known budget hotel chain Travelodge has just recently announced the launch its very first £3 million hotel in Newcastle. This hotel has 82 rooms and will be located at Lower Street, Newcastle under Lyme, Stafford. Due to the opening of this hotel, 20 new jobs have been created within the community. All of these positions have already been fulfilled via Job Center Plus Scheme.

The hotel chain has commissioned 15 budding artists from Wolstanton High School to design and create artwork to highlight the town’s already famous landmarks. The only criteria for the project was that students had to design their artwork using felt, which Newcastle under Lyme is very famous for making. According to reports, kids actually made their own felt for the project under the guidance of an art teacher. They used a traditional felt making process for the project.

The Mayor of Newcastle-under-Lyme, at the hotel’s grand opening, judged the 15 entries and selected the top five winning designs. The overall winners’ pieces of art were used in the hotel. Now people from all over the world that stay in this new hotel can view the pieces of art, which are showcased in the reception area.

The Mayor went on to say that tourism and business are vitally important to their local economy. Thus, they are very delighted that Travelodge has opened its first hotel in Newcastle. She finished up by saying that they wholeheartedly welcome Travelodge to the city and thanks them for providing the much needed career opportunities.

This new hotel features the latest contemporary room design from the budget chain. Each room offers a luxury king-size bed with mood lighting. The rooms have a flat screen TV that offers 18 digital channels.
