It now appears that there are some people that are trying to find the good in the British Airways cabin crew strikes. According to the Business Visits and Events Partnership, this strike could actually benefit the UK event sector.

Right now the Unite union, which his the union that is representing the British Airways cabin crew, is holding a ballot on a third round of British Airways strikes. These strikes could be held over a 12 week period starting on August 3rd.

Michael Hirst, who is the chairman for the Business Visits and Events Partnership, said that the possibility of further strikes was not all negative. Any disruptions to travel is not helpful at all. However, at least everyone knows when these strikes are taking place. It is also making quite a lot of UK companies keep their business in the UK, and that is of course helpful for the economy.

He went on to say that this is the third strike, and each strike seems to be less effective than the last. Organizers have the ability to know in advance about the disruption and can plan with visiting delegates and speakers.

The last round of 20 days of British Airways cabin crew walkouts fell during Imex week. However, Lufthansa added 20 percent capacity to its schedule between the UK and Germany to allow for increased demand.

The Institute of Travel and Meetings chief executive Paul Tilstone said that the longer the uncertainty goes on, the more likely corporations are to consider booking other airlines. There will clearly be some disruptions, but British Airways seems to be coping with the strikes pretty well.
