The World Cup is really starting to get intense. England was finally able to come alive just in time to advance to the next round. Some people have been wondering where England has been for the World Cup, but they’re here now, and they are ready to play.

Jermain Defoe was able to knock in a goal for the revive “Three Lions” as they beat Slovenia 1-0 on Wednesday in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This advanced them into the tournament’s second round. This was seen as a narrow, but very welcome escape for England.

England has been fighting off a lot of talk of internal strife after some very disappointing ties against both the United States and Algeria. England needed a victory in order to move on, and they finally got it. In fact, England was able to dictate the pace for much of the game. Now England has to turn their sights toward Germany in the second round.

Fabio Capello, the England coach said that this team, this spirit, played together and tried together. He is very happy, because he found the team that he knows. The team now goes forward. They can play against all the teams because their mind is now free.

This victory gave England second place in Group C, just behind the United States, which beat Algeria 1-0. Slovenia entered the day the surprise leader in the group, but finished with four points to five for the United States and England. The United States earned first place based on tiebreakers. The World Cup still has a lot in store for sports fans all over the world.
