Brits Prepare for Bank Holiday Troubles

Dave Bond

This coming weekend, it seems like most Brits all have the same idea, and that idea is to get away on a holiday. New reports suggest that roads may be gridlocked due to the fact that some 52 percent of all Brits are planning some kind of holiday this coming weekend. Most of the trips being taken are said to be over 4 hours long.

This brings up a good question: Why are so many Brits now choosing to go on holiday, and why are so many of them choosing to do it by way of car? Well many Brits are determined to make the most out of this summer, as many did not get to take a vacation last year. Not only that, many of them are preparing their own vacations to avoid having to book with tour operators that keep going belly up.

Reports suggest that Friday is going to be the busiest day. 25 percent of people who are taking their holiday have chosen to take Friday off of work and do their traveling on that day, meaning that the roadways are going to be extra packed. The study also suggests that driving at night may not help either, as many drivers have already reported that they are going to try that as well in order to beat the traffic.

A total of 41 percent of 18 to 25 year olds are planning a day trip over the weekend. Many are being lured away from their homes by all of the festivals that are taking place around the UK. This does include the Reading Festival in Berkshire and the Leeds Festival at Branham Park. Travelers who are heading to either one of these destinations can expect delays.
