First Choice and Thomson See Surge in Customers Seeking Reassurance
Helen YoungApparently leading travel agents First Choice and Thomson are seeing a huge surge of customers seeking advice and reassurance following the recent failure of holiday companies like Goldtrail and Kiss Flights. The companies are also reporting that people are seeking to book their breaks with larger, well established tour companies to avoid being left overseas.
This new trend is backed by a recent survey that shows that 90 percent of Brits are now more nervous about booking a holiday with a less known travel firm because of all the recent collapses. This just spells out more trouble for the smaller name companies and more consumers for the bigger names.
Retail Director, Kathryn Ward, said that whether they have already booked or are thinking about booking, consumers are naturally concerned about their holidays in this current climate. Not only do they want to be sure that their holidays are ATOL protected, they also want the assurance of traveling with a larger, well known operator. They want to be confident on their vacation so that they do not have to worry about their vacation being ruined and them being out money.
The Retail Director went on to say that ATOL protection can seem complicated. However, Thomson and First Choice travel advisors are always on had to offer all customers expert advice. These people are on hand whether or not the consumer books with them.
The sister companies Thomson and First Choice reported a 12 percent year on year increase in recent trading. This increase comes as holidaymakers look to travel with a well established company this year. Thomson and First Choice are part of TUI UK, whose parent company is TUI Travel PLC.
