Manchester Airport Evacuated Due to Bomb Scare

Reports now show that Manchester Airport was just recently swiftly evacuated due to a full scale bomb alert. A security staff member had apparently raised the alarm when they spotted a phone charger and a bottle of liquid on an x ray machine in the departure area of Terminal 1.

Bomb disposal experts were then brought in to examine the package to see what was in it. It was later confirmed that there was no threat in the bottle at all. Despite this, the airport was shutdown from 8:20am until just before lunchtime.

Due to the airport being shutdown, some 1,200 passengers and 20 flights were affected. A series of delays to the timetable, of course, came into affect. Superintendent Dave Hall from Greater Manchester Police said that the incident shows just how important it is for passengers to follow the rules when taking their hand luggage through security.

Dave Hall said that, had the liquids been taken out, the incident would not have taken place at all. He went on to add that the scanner saw a phone charger next to a bottle of liquid, which in the picture, looked like something a lot more sinister.

The owner of the hand luggage, who was age 30, was not arrested for their mistake. However, they will probably not be making the same mistake again when packing for their next trip. Normally disrupting a whole airport because of items that were packed in a bag is something that most people would like to avoid unless they want the whole airport mad at them. After all, people hate to miss their flights.
