Marriott Launches Europe Green Events

Marriott has just announced that it will be rolling out new “Green Events” that will take place at all Continental Europe JW Marriott Hotels and Resorts. These green events help to build on Marriott’s already aggressive approach to applying the principles of recycling to Europe. This makes Marriott the most eco friendly place that guests can choose to stay in.
However, the full details about the Green Events will be unveiled later on this week at the Frankfurt Marriott Hotel. Some of the information about the Green Events have already been announced, and this includes:
- 100% Forest Stewardship Council writing pads.
- Environmentally friendly presentation materials.
- Bulk candy in glass jars instead of having each piece packaged itself.
- The use of energy efficient audio visual equipment.
- Fresh seasonal fruit.
- They will be using glass or wooden tables that will be linen free.
- Marriott will also use paperless event proposals whenever it is legally possible to do so.
Frank Zehle, who is the marketing leader of Marriott Green Council in Europe, said that Marriott has already been recognized by the industry as a leader in great hotels. He went on to say that Marriott is now responding to the demands of the people that say they want greener meeting areas. By making hotel carbon emissions at these hotels less, people will be able to live in a greener world. However, Marriott did not want to have to give up quality just to be more eco friendly.
