Now that summer is officially here, many people, despite the economy, will pick up and head out for a little summer fun. This brings up the big question, how will travelers be vacationing this year? A recent survey put out by Hotels.com finds out the answer.

In the survey that was sent out to many people planning on traveling this year, Hotels.com found out that nearly two thirds, or 63 percent, of people that will be traveling will be staying at some kind of hotel, condo, or resort this year. Only about 33 percent of the people traveling will be saying with a friend or family member. This comes as a shock to many experts due to the way that economy has been.

Over half the people that will be staying in a hotel, about 55 percent, will be looking for some kind of added perks or benefits that will be added on if they choose to stay in that hotel. Thus, this year it appears, to hotel guests anyway, that add-ons are key to choosing a hotel.

Almost 87 percent of the people who took part in the survey said that breakfast was a favorite complimentary offering.

Of course, 60 percent of the people that were polled did think that it would be more expensive to travel this summer than last summer. Only 18 percent of people thought that it would be less expensive because of hotels dropping their rates down. 22 percent of people figured that it would cost about the same in the end.

However, Carl Sparks, the general manager of hotels.com, says that travelers will not be looking at a more expensive travel season. Mr Sparks went on to say that properties around the world are offering incredible rates that are the lowest that people have seen in years. He also noted that, although gas prices have gone up some in the past month, they are still much lower than they were at this same time last year.
