Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa Push Blame to Rape Victim
Stewart PerryA Marriott Hotel located in Stamford, Connecticut is now saying that a rape victim was careless and negligent. These comments come in reference to the woman that was raped at gunpoint in front of her children back in 2006 at the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa.
Apparently papers that were filed last month in Superior Court by the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa, which go on to say that the victim failed to exercise due care for her own safety. The report goes on to say that the woman did not only fail to exercise care for herself, but care for her children by the proper use of her senses and facilities.
According to prosecutors, a man named Gary Fricker assaulted a woman in her mini van in the Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa parking garage. However, the man did not just rape the woman, as he reportedly did it in front of her two young children, ages 3 and 5. Gary Fricker is now serving 20 years in prison for the crime that he committed.
The Stamford Marriott Hotel and Spa lawyers were reportedly responding to a lawsuit that was filed against the hotel. The lawsuit claimed that the hotel failed to prevent the rape attack back in 2006. This is apparently why the hotel went on to claim that the woman did not use her senses and facilities. Reports go on to suggest that the rape victim’s lawyer did not immediately respond to messages that were left with him last Thursday. More information on this case will be released after more is known.
