Marriott Opens New Cork Call Center
Tiffany PhillipsA new Global Reservation Sales & Customer Care center has been opened by Marriott in Cork, Ireland. This new center is going to be responsible for all of the inquiry calls from customers that originate in Ireland, the UK, and Continental Europe.
As one of the largest hoteliers in the world, Marriott’s new call center in Cork is about 10,400 square feet and is planned to create more than 200 high quality jobs during the next 5 years. It is also going to help serve their guests faster, with an expanding network across the globe of more than 3,100 hotel, especially with those across Europe and the United Kingdom. This second Cork call center is anticipated to handle an estimated 1.5 million calls by the end of next year, and they have already begun to recruit workers.
Billy Kelleher, the Minister for Labour Affairs at the Department of Enterprise, Trade, and Employment, says that they are happy Marriott chose Cork for the placement of their second operation. This shows that the company has confidence in their ability to proved the skilled personnel required for supporting a fast growing global business, he continued. The positive experiences that Marriott has at their existing call center in Cork, as well as the standard of their Irish workforce and management, are instrumental factors in getting this investment for the city amongst such strong competition between other international locations, Kelleher stated. He also added that this is also a major endorsement of the reputation of Ireland in global customer support and services.
