Superjumbo Fleet Started by British Airways

British Airways is one of the most well-known carriers in the world. Thus, it seems only fitting that this airline caters heavily to international passengers. Well, it appears that this is just what British Airways is planning on doing. It will do this by building a huge fleet of Superjumbo jets. For the first time ever, this fleet is going to be made up of both Dreamliners and A380s.

Reports go on to show that the first of the carrier’s 12 Airbus A380s is expected to be delivered as soon as next year. This is a big deal for the airline, because the A380 is the biggest civil aircraft in the world. This means that the airline will be able to carry more passengers than ever before. After all, the A380 can hold up to 853 passengers on its two decks.

British Airways has already ordered 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners as well. Thus, this will make British Airways the first airline in the world to offer both the Dreamliner and the A380. The orders of new planes are part of a huge £5 billion investment plan, which will take place over the next five years.

Work on its first A380 has already been started. In fact, different pieces of the plane are being made in many different locations around the world. Reports show that the engines of the plane are being made by Rolls-Royce in Derbyshire. However, the wings of the plane are being built-in Flintshire, North Wales.

These planes are going to help British Airways fly more long-haul flights from Heathrow. It is important that the airline gets as many passengers as they can on every plane that flies out of Heathrow. This is because the landing slots at this airport are restricted, and the airline has to make do with what it can.
