Aloft Hotels Makes China Debut
Stewart PerryThe Aloft Hotels lifestyle brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced that they will be opening Aloft Beijing, Haidian. The new hotel will have 186 guest rooms and is owned by Yong Tai Real Estate Group. This is also the first Aloft hotel to open in Asia Pacific, as well as outside of North America. Aloft Beijing, Haidian will underscore the remarkable global expansion of the brand with over 500 hotels planned to open in markets such as China, India, Belgium, Thailand, Canada, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates over the next 5 years.
Simon Turner, the President of Global Development for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, said that the simultaneous and rapid expansion of Aloft Hotels in worldwide markets is a testament to Starwood’s power and the developers’ confidence in their brands. As they continue to expand the Aloft Hotels brand, China will represent a main market with its major increases in inbound and outbound tourism, he continued.
Brian McGuinness, the Senior Vice President of Specialty Select Brands, said that Aloft Beijing, Haidian will introduce new levels of energy and style to the dynamic capital city of the country, as well as set the stage for the aggressive expansion of the brand throughout the region. This new hotel is a fitting choice for a debut in Asia Pacific as it is located strategically in what is known to be the Silicon Valley of China, he continued. They expect the tech savvy and style-conscious visitors of this booming business center to connect with the Aloft Hotels electric and eclectic experience, McGuinness added.
